James C. Sivon is a partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm of Barnett Sivon & Natter, P.C. Sivon specializes in financial services law and regulation. He assists domestic and foreign financial institutions, investors, and industry consultants in clearances and approvals for specific transactions, compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations, and enforcement proceedings. He advises financial trade associations on various policy matters, including insurance and housing regulation.
Sivon is a former senior vice president and general counsel for the Association of Bank Holding Companies (1983 to1985), and he served as the staff director for the Republican members of the U.S. House Committee on Banking, Finance and Urban Affairs from 1980 to 1983.
Sivon is a frequent speaker on the regulation of financial services firms, and is the author of various publications on financial services topics. He is a member of the Executive Council of the Federal Bar Association’s Banking Law Committee. He received his undergraduate degree from Denison University and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, and is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.
